Bird Island - Isla Pajaro is approximately 10-15 minutes from
Boca del Drago, depending on the sea conditions. It is part of
some tour package choices as well. If the sea is rough it can
become a little uncomfortable for people prone to sea sickness.

Bird Island is an incredible place to see. There is not anything to do there except to watch the
unbelievable amount of birds inhabiting these rocks. During breeding season they are quite agressive
and look like they are trying to dive bomb the boats that come to close. Don't worry nobody has been
insured by a bird yet. Anyway, it is just fun to watch the birds coming and going. You can't and should
really not get off the boat and attempt to go onto the island. For one thing the current comes from all
sides and it is not save. The other thing is that this truly is a bird sanctuary and they should not be
disturbed. I broke the rule once myself and must tell you that I felt very much like an intruder and cut my
visit short. Also, there is really nowhere to go once you are on the rock. Then you have to fight the
curent back to your boat. Your visit to this place will be short and it is often hard to take any pictures
because the boat is rocking all the time. In that case buy a nice post card. Nevertheless it is definately
worth the trip to see this unique inviroment.
